Nestled into the southern shores of Lake Wanaka, Wanaka township is a magnet for visitors who want to find the perfect combination of clean, green, outdoor adventure and indoor luxury.

The fourth largest lake in New Zealand, the crystal-clear waters of Lake Wanaka reflect the snow capped peaks from the surrounding mountains. Enjoy the pristine wilderness of Mt Aspiring National Park or dine at a restaurant while absorbing the views.

A wide range of attractions and outdoor activities are within easy reach and make for a fun-packed holiday. Skiing, snowboarding, heliskiing, mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, sightseeing and climbing are all on Wanaka's door step. Venture into the hills and mountains surrounding Wanaka or take a scenic cruise on the lake. Fish from one of the many accessible spots around the lake and rivers nearby or sample the locally made wines. Stroll along one of several walkways around the lake's edge or sit back, relax and enjoy a film at the Cinema Paradiso or be pampered at one of the many health spas in town. Alternatively, lose yourself in the Maze, or take in Wanaka's many shops and cafes.

Wanaka hosts a number of World-class festivals and events including the air show, Warbirds over Wanaka, the Festival of Colour and the International Heli-Challenge.

Close to four ski fields; Treble Cone, Cardrona, Waiorau Nordic Ski Area and the Snow Park, Wanaka offers a huge terrain suitable for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.

Wanaka is also an ideal base to explore the Southern Lakes region with Lake Hawea only a 20 minute drive, Lake Dunstan and Cromwell wine region 55km away and Queenstown only a 65km drive across the scenic Crown Range.
